Every Time I Die goes the tried and true route with their fourth full-length outing, refining the skull-searing attack unleashed on previous affairs such as 2005’s Gutter Phenomenon and 2001’s Last Night in Town. There are no art-rock pretensions, no ironic covers of any classic ‘80s pop hits, nor anything less than uncompromising barbarism. For full effect, visit the boogie-laden "Leatherneck," the speedy "Rebel Without Applause," or "Buffalo Gals" (with its shades of AC/DC on a steady diet of raw meat). Not a moment is wasted on this 36-minute blast of gut-wrenching intensity. Provided, of course, that you like your music smothered in passion and American-style testosterone. --Jedd Beaudoin
Album Description
With its blinding guitar work, bowel splintering drumming and lyrical/vocal capabilities that have left the most prestigious literati flummoxed, "The Big Dirty" has fossilized itself in the moist, squashy pulp of our untrained minds at a time when man is completely incapable of registering its cultural significance. From its hooked beak which is lined with 10 rows of fangs which are each soaked in poison which are then set on fire, Every Time I Die has bellowed forth the most audacious sounds of recent history. Its music is unprecedented in its combination of gritty southern rock with melodic hardcore, and from what we can tell from its bone structure, it was capable of the most spectacularly energetic and personal live shows the world has ever known.
