Intensely personal and autobiographical, ONE FOR ALL, is a song cycle of variously styles, profoundly rich ballads that touch on all aspects of Peter’s life, looking back at his legendary music career while also turning within to reflect on family and friends. My Review
Peter Criss is the REASON I started playing drums about 8 centuries ago. I thought he was great, and I still have a good amount of admiration for him. I was very sad in 1980 when he was booted out of the band, and I missed him throughout the 80s even though he released 2 albums (Out Of Control and Let Me Rock You) in 1981 and 1982. He would show up in various drum magazines regarding him joining bands and switching to a new brand of cymbals throughout that decade, but nothing else musically was released until 1994 when Criss Cat #1 came out. It was a pretty hard rocking disc with a few memorable cuts even though it included the remake of Beth which was just utter cheese. It was like, "Yes Peter, we remember who you are. There is really no need to do a new version of Beth." It didn't seem too sincere of an album though since he was always more of an R&B guy, but I understood he had to release a rock and roll album after such a long time to possibly renew fan's interest. "All For One" is a very mellow album from a guy who has influenced millions of drummers, has seen and done it all, doesn't owe anyone anything, and is nearing retirement age. He made his millions back with the Kiss reunion it is very cool hearing his voice and drums again. The songs, again, are quite mellow, but that's what he wants to do and I respect that because he's Peter Criss. They are mellow but quite good. He rocked with Kiss, and maybe he's had enough of that and wants to do something that he himself enjoys without Paul and Gene dictating.
worth a listen
This cd is certainly the softer side of Peter, but is really well done. It isn't heavy, so it may not suit everyones' tastes, but it is full of reflections and personal thoughts. I really liked all but one song (a remake of Send In The Clowns), I thought it was too melancoly. My favourite song is Last Night, a very beautiful and powerful vocal. It is certainly a mellow cd compared to Cat 1, but a good easy listen at the end of a long day. If you appreciate the many sides of Peter's talent, you will enjoy this recording as much as I do.
C'est un album qui ressemble bien à Peter Criss.
C'est une mélodie simple et à la fois paisible pour les amateurs de ballade musical...
