The series was tied after the first four games 2-2. Giants fans were jubilant after their 16-4 Game 5 triumph. However, the Angels would never quit. Now, down 3 games to 2, and trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the seventh, the Halos charged back. Scott Spiezio's 3-run, seventh-inning home run led off a rally that propelled the Angels to a Game 6 win.

The next night John Lackey became the first rookie-pitcher to start and win a Game 7 since 1909. In their first World Series appearance the Club reached the goal set at the start of their inaugural 1961 season: the Angels were World Champions!
