FANTASTIC!!
After the lackluster Muchdance 2006, my expectations weren't high for Muchdance 2007, but Muchmusic more than made up for the 2006 edition with 'Muchdance 2007'. It has nothing but the big pop, R&B, and hip-hop hits of 2006, including most of the biggest hits of the year:


1. FERGIE - London Bridge: This Hallaback-esque song was self-proclaimed by Fergie as "stupid", which it is. However, the beat is sick, and the lyrics are kind of funny. This guilty pleasure started off Fergie's impressive string of top-5 hits (#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

2. CHRIS BROWN - Yo (Excuse Me Miss) [South Rakkas Reggaeton Mix]: This is my favorite Chris Brown song and I like this remix as much as the original, because it keeps a lot of the same elements as the original, but adds a reggaeton beat (#7 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

3. CHRISTINA AGUILERA - Ain't No Other Man: This is a fantastic first single from her "Back to Basics" album because it sounds nothing like what else was on the radio at the time, and the beat is fresh and fun, and her voice sounds great (sometimes she screams too much, though). The sample is used very well also. It samples The Moon People's "Hippy Skippy Moon Strut" and The Soul Seven's "The Cissy's Thang". (#6 Billboard Hot 100 Hit) ***The transition between this song and the next song is really hot!!

4. NELLY FURTADO Featuring TIMBALAND: Promiscuous: Arguably, THE song of 2006. Nelly's comeback song does see the Canadian sell-out to a certain degree, but the futuristic beat is so infectious, it almost erases that fact alone. The 80's synth in the chorus makes the song, in my opinion. (#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

5. THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS Featuring BUSTA RHYMES - Buttons: I like the whole middle-eastern feel to this song. Pollow Da Don is a great producer, and he made a really good beat for this song. In my opinion, Snoop doesn't really add anything to this song (he's not on the album version), so his the reason appearance is probably nothing more than to win over urban audiences. (#3 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

6. THE BLACK EYED PEAS - Pump It: I loved this song when I first bought "Monkey Business" in 2005, but it got really annoying after the while. It's still a fun and energetic song, and the sample of Dick Dale's "Misirlou", known from the movie "Pulp Fiction", makes this song what it is. (#18 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

7. CHAMILLIONAIRE Featuring KRAYZIE BONE - Ridin': I hated this song when it first came out because it's very bland and overplayed. It's sped up on this CD a bit, which makes it sound a bit better, so I don't mind listening to it, once in a while. (#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

8. BUSTA RHYMES - Touch It: I really like this song. Busta finally goes back to his speed-rap which made him famous, over two really heavy, club beats. Definitely one of his best singles, and the Daft Punk "Technoligic" sample is like icing on the cake. (#16 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

9. PHARELL Featuring GWEN STEFANI - Can I Have It Like That: This song is ok, but I would expect better from a Gwen/Pharell collaboration. The beat is good, but the song is repetitive. Gwen's appearance is basically useless as she repeats the same line over and over. (#49 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

10. SHAKIRA Featuring WYCLEF JEAN - Hips Don't Lie: Definitely the biggest world-wide hit of 2006, and possibly of this millennium. This is basically a remake of "Dance Like This" by Wyclef featuring Claudette Oritz from City High, that was featured in "Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights", that was tacked on the Shakira's "Oral Fixation 2" 4 months after it's release because it wasn't selling. The beat is turned into a reggaeton beat, similar to Shakira's 2005 hit, "La Tortura", which sounds nice. It's a good, fun dance song, great for the summer. It samples Jerry Rivera's "Amores Como El Nuestro".(#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

11. BEYONCE - Check on It: Yes, this version does not feature Slim Thug on it, which makes it more enjoyable because his rap part did nothing for the song in the first place. I love the beat of this song because it's very catchy. I also like the melody and the way it's sung because it's very playful and has a child-like feel to it. It actually sounds like Kelly Rowland that sings the first part of the second verse if you listen closely. (#1 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

12. KELIS Featuring TOO $HORT Bossy - I don't know why Kelis isn't more popular in North America because she's really good, and her songs are always unique. The beat is very contagious and the lyrics are very sassy with a lot of attitude. (#16 Billboard hot 100 Hit)

13. P!NK - Stupid Girls: I like Pink, and the message of this song, but not so much the music. You can't really dance to it. This song sounds like it was tailor made for a video, and the video is great, so it makes sense. (#13 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

14. JESSICA SIMPSON - Public Affair: This song is very old-school sounding and it bares a striking similarity to Madonna's "Holiday". It's a very bubble-gum sounding song, and up beat. It's actually pretty good. It samples Diana Ross' version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (#14 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

15. KELLY CLARKSON - Walk Away: The last single off of her massive "Breakaway" album. I like it. The music is great, her vocals are great, and it's a very catchy rock-pop song. (#12 Billboard Hot 100 Hit)

16. MOBILE - Out of My Head [Claude le Gauche Edit]: I heard the original version of this song basically every day in the summer of 2006, and I do think I prefer that one better, but this dance remix isn't bad. It's difficult to make a rock tune sound good as a dance song, but it works here. You might recognize this remix, since there's a different video for it that was also played on Much.

17. RIHANNA - SOS [Nevin's Future-Retro Edit]: This remix is not entirely different from the original version, as a lot of the "Tainted Love" sample is still apparent with this one. This one is more club-oriented and not as pop oriented as the main version. I like this one as much as the original. This samples Soft Cell's version of "Tainted Love". (#1 Billboard hot 100 Hit)

18. MYLO - Mars Needs Women: Like all of the charity songs on these Muchdance CD's, this one is forgettable. It's a retro-dance song, that's ok, but not memorable.
