Album Description
One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back is the second album from Lowestoft's The Darkness and sees the band continue with their humourous take on eighties hair metal. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, David Bowie, The Who) the album sees the band flesh out the riff-laden rock sound of their debut, while sticking to the formula that earned them three Brit Awards, an Ivor Novello 'Songwriters Of The Year' award and four UK top ten hits. Must Destroy/Atlantic. 2005.

Darkness does it again
Fresh off their big hit Permission to Land the DArkness do not disappoint in their sophomore release; not taking themselves to seriously they can write songs about breasts 'Knockers' and get away with it, the album seems to be written in the same format as permission to land so if you like the debut you will definately like this release, the first single One WAy Ticket To Hell is already out and doesnt disappoint
A great album with minor faults
The Darkness is a breath of fresh air amidst a legion of depressing sounding bands from the nineties. They also fill a great void left after the disappearance of one of the greatest bands on Earth-Queen. They prove that rock music can still be fun and joy. One Way ticket to Hell is a very nice album despite the legth of 35 minutes and could be great if all of the songs were good. But they aren't. The title track is very good but not excellent. Girlfriend is simply awful. It sounds worse than a bad Bee Gees song. Is it just me is an average song, not bad, with some à la AC/DC riffs. The good thing is that the rest of the album is awesome. Bald is the heaviest song on the album and one of the best. Hazel Eyes is fantastic, as well as Knockers and Blind Man ( a heartbraking ballad, I am sure the guys from Queen will like it). English Country Garden is also a great song, again à la Queen. I think the album is a step further musically and vocally. The Darkness are still searching for their sound and have tried new things and most of them are great. I think they have to stick to the heavier material and the ballads. That's what they do best. And get rid of the cheesy poppy stuff.
Wow!
This is good stuff. I haven't heard guitar, drums, and diversity in a band since the 80's. The music just flows and flows. Awesome listening. Good stuff Darkness
