"a musical experience never to be forgotten ~ Percy Faith"
Anyone who was around in the late '60s can remember what was playing on the radio ~ for starters we have from the album "Those Were The Days", tunes from composers Burt Bacharach, Hal David ("Promises,Promises"), Buddy Buie & James Cobb ("Stormy"), Jimmy Ducan ("My Special Angel"), Fred Ebb & John Kander ("Zorba"), Barry Mann & Larry Kolber ("I Love How You Love Me"), Spence Maxwell & Percy Faith ("A Quiet Day"), Paul McCartney & John Lennon ("Fool On The Hill"), Ron Miller & Orlando Murden ("For Once In My Life"), Joni Mitchell ("Both Sides Now"), Gene Raskin("Those Were The Days"), Bobby Russell ("Little Green Apples") ~ all were originally released in 1969 on Columbia Records (CS-9762) with brilliant arrangements from conductor Percy Faith and his wonderful orchestra and chorus ~ staying way ahead of the pack the sound we've grown to love over the years.
The second half of the CD is "Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet", featuring cues of "A Summer Place"(theme) (Mack Discant/Max Steiner), "April Fools" (Burt Bacharach/Hal David), "Aquarius" (Gerome Ragni/James Rado/Galt MacDermot), "Good Morning Starshine" (Gerome Ragni/James Rado/Galt MacDermot), "Hello Tomorrow" (Bradford Craig), "Love (Can Make You Happy)" (Jack Sigler Jr.), "One" (Harry Nilsson), "Spinning Wheel" (David Thomas), "Through the Eyes of A Child (Un Jour, Un Enfant)" (Joan Maitland/Ed Marnay/Emile Stern), "Without Her" (Harry Nilsson) ~ Faith"s arrangements take your breath away, gives new life through his recordings ~ his approach to a composition has a lasting memory with performances to yet another level ~ originally released on Columbia Records in 1969 (CS-9906) ~ sonically better than ever...gotta love it!
