Customer Reviews
You'll need an oxygen tank.
He has an offbeat delivery that grows on you quickly. Good Lord, this guy is funny. I first saw him on a Comedy Central special and thought, why haven't I heard of him before? People compare him to Steven Wright because he does a lot of observational humor but he is more varied and interesting in demeanor. I'm thinking more like George Carlin re wordplay and intelligence. But this Mitch fellow is a treasure and I enjoyed 'discovering' him accidentally while channel surfing. I didn't think that sort of thing happened anymore in the heavily marketed and hyped world we live in. Five stars all the way.
Here comes the funny
Hands down, the funniest thing I've ever owned, heard or seen. Mitch has a mellow, laid-back delivery on this CD that's absolutely hysterical, and some off-the-wall one liners and jokes that catch you off-guard. Give the previews a listen, and if you find them remotely funny, pick up the CD. Soon, you will be sharing his CDs with all your friends, and quoting him daily.
fruit on the bottom... hope on top!
Mitch Hedberg is a comedy genius. I have been a serious comedy fan for most of my life, and in terms of the sheer creativity and inventiveness of his material, I'd easily put Mitch among the top five standup comics of all time. The material reminds me a lot of Steven Wright and (to a lesser extent) Woody Allen's standup comedy (yes, Woody Allen was a standup comedian once, and he was one of the best). The material is incredibly off-the-wall and absurd -- Mitch has a gift for taking even the most mundane things in life and finding the humor in them. Anyone who can make a screamingly funny joke out of the inside of the top of a yogurt container is seriously talented. In addition, Mitch's vocal style is unique. He talks as if he just learned to speak a few days ago, and continually puts the stress on the wrong syllables of words. It's weird but it's oddly charming, and you will find yourself talking like him if you listen to his jokes too much. This CD contains tons of really great material, and every comedy fan should own a copy of it. I hope that Mitch gets the recognition he deserves -- he's truly one of the shining stars of standup comedy.
