The Best CD. Ever
All hail the saviors of rock and roll! At metal's worst point in history, The Darkness save the world with pure arena rock. No, it's not fused with nu metal like Motley Crue does now. It's just pure arena rock in the form of AC/DC, Queen, and Def Leppard. I just can't believe the power of these songs. I will show you my opinion on them here.
Black Shuck: A catchy, evil-sounding number with pure rock power.
Get Your Hands Off My Woman: An unbelievably rock song.
Growing On Me: Quite possibly the best song on the album.
I Believe In A Thing Called Love: The big hit off the album, with AC/DC-esque guitars.
Love Is Only A Feeling: One of the best power ballads ever. I love it.
Givin' Up: A great catchy, arena rock song.
Stuck In A Rut: A churning metal song.
Friday Night: A Thin Lizzy-sounding semi-ballad.
Love On The Rocks With No Ice: The heaviest song on the album, with roaring guitars and vocals.
Holding My Own: Another ballad, with great lyrics and great power.
This is overall the best album ever released. I think it can single handedly reverse the course of 2000's metal. If you are a metalhead, you must own this.
That dog dont' give a duck!
***This is a review of the EDITED VERSION***
So far, this is my fave album of 2004. I enjoy the Darkness' tribute to 70's and 80's glam rock. I heard a lot of buzz abouth these guys last year--even Jack Black saying that they were one of his faves. I first heard them when Growing on Me was featured on the School of Rock soundtrack. I laughed when I first saw the I believe in a thing called love video. Justin Hawkins' look was so pricelessly glam--especially the floral tiara. What a hoot!
I really enjoy their rocking sound. I also really appreciate their releasing a tweaked clean version for guys like me who dont want all that cussin' (or is that shucking fit?). I like the fact that they changed the lyrics instead of blanking them out a-la-Blink 182, although that's okay too. This album is very much recommended. Enjoy!
Need Money to finish Rocket Ship.
Well, i bought this albulm off a whim.Stop One night while watching MTV i saw a "Buzzworthy" dealio on the darkness. Stop I first blew it off, as a "well, that was stupid." stop. I then saw the full version, and after listing to the guitar riff close to the end, i fell in love with them. Stop being, thirteen, my dad freaks out when all they can say is "Well ____ That." Stop so, i bought the edited version. Stop They are one of those bands that you need to "get". Stop They are supposed to be stupid blatent ripoffs, so get over it and stop whining. Stop The guitar is awsome. stop The only song i skip is "Love on the rocks with no ice. Stop Buy it. stop That is all.
