Customer Reviews
Javier is more than
His voice is like honey...sweet and thick. It sticks to your senses. He is talented and his debut was a breathe of fresh air. He is Babyface, Brian McKnight, Eric Benet wrapped into one - I'm sure you get where I'm coming from. He should be receiving accolades for new male artist, unless they are deaf.
Pretty exceptional
Javier - Javier (Capitol, 2003)
When Javier first released "Crazy" last year, I wasn't too, uh, crazy about it because lyrically, he wasn't saying anything new. If you're looking for more original songwriting on this album, you won't find it but you will find some wonderfully sung tracks like "Song for Your Tears" and "Hey Little Sister". Javier also does a good rendition of the jazz standard, "October Sky". Vocally, he is a cross between Eric Benet and Slim from 112. He has a good chance of staying long in the business if he is promoted right. Actually, this album came out last August, I only saw one video from him ("Crazy"), and I'm sure this album isn't platinum yet, so the future doesn't look too good. Pick this album up to support Javier, and for more underrated artists on Capitol Records, also get the new Van Hunt. -EJR
EXCELLENT ! !
I'm amazed at the lack of exposure and recognition for this artist. Grammy? Soul Train Award? I'm thankful for cable radio since commercial radio in southern Cali. is asleep on this one. He's returned to the old school concept of an album (CD)in which every song is the bomb. It's all ballads and cha cha songs. The lyrics are intense, the music-funky and beautiful. It soufully incorporates all genres of music. I love it! Thank you Javier!
