Joe and his friend Blue tackle the preschool basics of circles, rectangles, even trapezoids while sorting through Blue's hints as to where she would like most to see more shapes in "Shape Searchers." If the clues cash register, cart, and food don't add up for you, the kid chorus will help you out. The second episode finds the pair in their backyard making a "portrait of pals," a painting of their many-colored friends. But they only have primary colors, so in order to paint Orange Kitten, for instance, they have to mix red and yellow. Joe makes the most of this opportunity for a color lesson with the assistance of Shovel, who turns out to be a superb artist without the help of a brush. Who knew? (Ages 2 to 6) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Blues Clues: Shapes and Colors
My son owns this movie. He absolutely loves this movie, his favorite so far! He's only two and already he knows his colors and most of the shapes, and I give some credit to this movie. All sorts of shapes, and colors I didn't even know existed! :)
This is definitely a good pick for a young child.
Joe is not terrible! The dvd is great!!
My kids find Joe to be as entertaining and fun to watch as Steve. I teach preschool and all of the kids love both Steve and Joe. It is really good when kids can learn to adjust to changes. Afterall, change is a part of life and they will be faced with changes throughout thier entire life. This program is both entertaining and educational. A real keeper!
excellent!
my 18-month-old daughter loves blue's clues, and could care less if joe or steve shows up. this particular dvd seems to be her favorite, and she yells "yeah" throughout the whole thing! my husband and i really like it because it's a great non-cheesy way to introduce shapes and colors to little ones, and the music is really fun too. all 3 of us would very highly recommend this dvd!
