Wait for a better release
This CD contains 10 nice songs including "Don't Cry Out Loud" which Melissa Manchester interprets better than anybody else. However, despite the compilation date of 2001, this CD of Melissa Manchester's songs originally released between 1975 and 1983 doesn't sound remastered at all. Most tracks sound a bit plain (over compressed) and hollow (too much reverb added) and some tracks even sound a little distorted at high volume. Besides, there're no liner notes, just a listing of songs at the back of the one-page insert. There should be a better/remastered release.
Not enough songs, but special just the same
This one is great because in spite of the fact it only offers 10 songs. Here's the song list: Midnight Blue; Don't Cry Out Loud; Come in from the Rain (one of her best and very underrated); Through the Eyes of Love; Just You and I; Whenever I Call You Friend (which she actually co-wrote with Kenny Loggin, but he recorded it with Stevie Nicks instead!); My Boyfriend's Back; You Should Hear How She Talks About You; I Can't Get Started (worth the price alone because she duets with the producer on this Cole Porter song). Melissa Manchester is an underrated singer and extremely talented songwriter. For the price alone, this one would be a great addition to your collection.
