Max Keeble's junior high career is off to an inauspicious start: one bully chucks him in a dumpster, another tormenter takes his friends' money, the ice cream truck guy is after him, and the self-serving principal is after everyone who stands in the way of his budget-draining football field plans. But his family's sudden plans to relocate give him the moxie to stand up to his foes in a big way. This kid revenge fantasy results in gags like a squirrel in the principal's pants and a cafeteria-wide food fight. Of course, Max (Alex D. Linz) doesn't move, forcing him to take responsibility for his actions, or this wouldn't be a Disney film. The broad humor is clearly meant for preteens, but crude jokes, bullying, and sexual innuendo (thus the PG rating) make it inappropriate for younger kids, leaving it for the narrow age range of about 8 to 12. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Synopsis
After having been outmatched in the live-action family film department by rival Nickelodeon in recent years, Disney jumps back into the kid-friendly fray with this comedy about a seventh grader (Alex D. Linz) who's mercilessly picked on by his school's bullies and by his principal (Larry Miller). When his parents (Nora Dunn and Robert Carradine) inform Max that they're moving at the end of the week, he takes the opportunity to exact several forms of creative revenge on his many tormenters. When it subsequently turns out that the Keebles aren't leaving town after all, little Max is left to the mercy of those he's just humiliated. Max Keeble's Big Move is the second feature film from Tim Hill, the nephew of famed director George Roy Hill (The Sting). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
Customer Reviews
If you're after that old Disney magic, look elsewhere.
.... You don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure out what happens next.
A movie that is loud, clumsy, empty-headed, totally unfunny, mean-spirited & full of moronic supporting characters; MAX KEEBLE will appeal only to the most simple-minded of children. Amazingly there are FOUR writers credited here! Their combined creative genius even sees the biggest cliche of high school movies trotted out yet again: that of the cafeteria food fight!
Although it isn't a complete travesty, MAX KEEBLE'S BIG MOVE is a film that belongs in the lower ranks of Disney productions. One that parents will be reluctant to suffer through with their kids. A shame considering it's directed by Tim Hill, whose previous film was MUPPETS FROM SPACE, which I consider to be THE best Muppet movie ever. You'd be better off watching that instead, or even one of the old classic Disney movies. (Especially if it's got Stella Stevens in it, in which case Dads will definitely want to watch it). Uncle Walt would not be impressed. Bring back Donald Duck!
Great Kid's Movie
If I had a dime for everytime we've watched this I'd be a trillionaire and it's still funny! Our Video tape of it went kaput so we bought the DVD! Great movie. They should make a sequel!
Hey thats really funny! Good job Disney!!
Disney did it again, in a very funny way, didn't expect it to be, thought it would be another one of those pre-teen kidflicks but liked it very much, really. This one had its own twist of funny moments, a lot of it and most of all it is all very nicely done, gotta see it if like funny movies!
