Customer Reviews
"my man" ruins it
I truly wish I could rate this album 5 stars as the majority have done, but it deserves calling out that the vibe is completely thrown by track #3 "my man" by Amina. From the first listening of the album I was so struck by the glaring contrast of this song from all the others that I've suspected whoever assembled the project inadvertantly included the wrong tune from Amina (with all due respect to her work). Whereas every other track provides a distinctive chill vide (as opposed to other compilations that the tracks all sound the same), the "my man" tune has very explicit lyrics calling attention to the story it's telling which is some satirical take on a woman who's completely engrossed in an abusive relationship. Not only is the parody distractingly expressed in the clearest of terms but the melodic structure and tempo is the farthest thing from chill imaginable including assorted rhythmic shifts and changing song structure. It is such an oddity in the collection that it deserves forewarning. If you put the album on to relax you have to brace yourself for track #3, skip past it, or start on track #4.
Chilled
Wow. This CD is exactly what the title says, the art of chilling. Its something that you can put in your cd player and completely zone out too, great meditation music.
Transcendental Listening
Was a little skeptical before buying despite the fact that I had heard "gitloop" on our local radio and loved it. After one listen to this album, I have to admit that it is completely amazing. While I have owned Pure Moods and Elevation compilations in the past, this is the first ambient/lounge/chill-out that truly takes me into a different dimension while listening.
