Still learning..?
There is a story, perhaps apocraphyl, that in is late 80s Michaelangelo made a comment that he was "still learning". That, in a nutshell, explains this album. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't hear it myself, but this master of the guitar is obviously making an effort to continue to grow in his craft. At a stage where most people would coast, LJ is stretching and learning and expanding. This is his best album so far, and if you have heard his previous work you can understand what high praise that is. The instrumentation is spare and clean, and you can really appreciate the skill and innovation on display here. Highly recoommened to anyone who loves the guitar.
