Customer Reviews

Very romantic5
I have an old 33 of "Music for Tired Lovers," but it's full of static, so I'm going to purchase this album, even though I'm not much interested in "The Jazz Swinger" part.

I'm not familiar with Herman's other styles, though I understand he's had many. The style of "Tired Lovers" does it for me. These great old standards are sung by Herman in a low-key, casual way, as if he were half asleep, just like the couple on the album cover.

Old standards are my favorite kind of music, and I love to hear them sung by unexpected people, such as Linda Ronstadt's three albums of oldies and Toni Tenille's renditions of several classics.

Style AND content!5
You may love the big band sound...and here it is. But a bonus...Woody apparently liked to do some after hours singing with the band and they prevailed upon him to record them. I grew up with this playing late at night and have searched for it since. So...you get the best of both! As for "what the producers were thinking"...they were thinking, "let's let the public in on this too. Good listening!
