Best
Disconnected is one of my favorite records ever right next to Blueprints of the World and J9 or D10 from Echant, Disconnected has the ability to create a very cool mood thanks to the songs Disconnected pt1 and 2, it also has powerful and heavier tracks like One and Pieces of Me that really metal up the record.
Then we find Something from Nothing and Still Remains that are trulllly a masterpiece, and if you have read the 101 rules of prog metal you can also call them epics.
This album is quite dificult to top, and really puts Fates very high in the scale, not to mention the not so great realease that DT has just present aka Train of Though(jeje kinda Kill Bill) .
Anyway going back with FW YOU MUST get this album, its great, buy it.
P.D Give it a change to Falling into Infinity, although it has a lot of fillers, there's something good going on there, you just have to find it.(ex. Hell's Kitchen)
pinnacle reached
o.k. anyone in doubt,buy it!
I may be slightly partial being a CT. native ,now living in the southwest, but,i have all the fates stuff, and this is by FAR the best. Being a non-musician myself,I may offer an unbiased perspective. I judge everything strictly by the end product, not by any technical musicial perspective or magazine personality write up.The album has taken what was achieved in the good, but somewaht too dreary, "pleasant shade-0-gray," and turned it into a masterpiece.
As one reader pointed out.I too, wish this album would go on longer; as timing is so perfect and you get to "into" but, It ends a little too soon.
PSO-GREY is good, but really only gets great by the climax at the end. it does set a mood, but disconnected is great all the way through.no highs and lows... just perfect balance...
I love the dream theatre stuff as well...
but disconnected has completely "raised the bar!"
disconnected has earned it's place as a "night camping only" type cd. saved for special appropriate times of play.
ENJOY!
Progressive "Light"....
I agree with a previous member who said that FW takes a good riff and builds a great PROG feeling song around it---without jerking you around too much. Don't get me wrong, I like the "jerky" stuff too. FW is subtle prog----more like Queensryche----not like Dream Theater. It's Prog "light". Good musicianship, good lyrics/vocals, good hard edge guitar. By the way, I saw FW in concert twice last summer (opening for QR and DT). Awesome!!!!!!!
