Editorial Reviews
From Amazon.co.uk
Ohio native Bobby Bare was already established as one of country music's prototypical outlaws when he signed for Columbia in 1978. It is a stage of his career often overlooked in favour of his earlier, self-penned work. Partly chosen by the man from Ironton, Ohio himself, Bare's Picks shows his whip-sharp instincts and stinging wit remained as fresh as ever. Bare developed a fertile relationship with satirical songwriter Shel Silverstein with topical humorous slice of life songs like "Numbers" and "The Jogger". From the comedy horror of "Quaaludes Again" to the tender mythology of "Me And Jimmie Rodgers", Bare's Picks is a fine testament to a hardy and maverick spirit. --Gavin Martin
