Editorial Reviews

From Amazon.com
Like his father before him, Frank Christian is a devoted Augusta watcher. Their family photos are a virtual who's who of golf greatness, and because the Christian name is high on the leader board of golf photographers, many of the shots that make up this scrapbook--the candids, the action shots, and the behind-the-scenes glimpses--are as classic as a Sneadapproach or a PlayerPlayer pitch. No single image ever captured the complexly patriarchal and patronizing spirit of Augusta National better than Christian's elaborate staging of club co-founder Clifford Roberts, a martinet of a man who once suggested that Easter should be postponed because it conflicted with the Masters' final round. Roberts is captured apparently walking on water with his white-suited black caddie, waist-deep and sinking, toting Roberts's golf bag behind him. Masters devotees will doubtless find its inclusion alone worth the greens fees.

From the Inside Flap
The Masters has always been very special to me- and, it is wonderful to enjoy the history and tradition of this great tournament through the photos of Frank Christian. He's the best! - Jack Nicklaus

I've known Frank Christian since he was just a youngster, and met his father when I first played in the Augusta National Invitiational Tournament in 1935. I definitely believe that Frank is the best and fastest photographer I've ever seen. Frank's photographic record of Augusta National will add immeasurably to the history of the game of golf, and to the history of my favorite tournament- the Masters. -Byron Nelson

The Masters and the Augusta National Golf Club are two subjects very dear to my heart. Since I love the history of both, this book will provide those interested a unique perspective. - Ben Crenshaw

Frank Chistian certainly has played an important role in my golf career at the Masters, catching some of the most historic moments with his camera. I treasure those photographs and the generosity he has shown with them. - Arnold Palmer
