Photographer, Peter Sanders offers arresting images of Muslim life around the globe in "In the Shade of the Tree: A Photographic Odyssey Through the Muslim World". Sanders's use of light and shadow shows him to be a true artist; the simplicity of these photos is glorious. There are exterior (and even some stunning interior) shots of mosques, including Beijing's 1,000-year-old Niujie Mosque and Al-Aksa Mosque in Jerusalem, as well as astonishing portraits of individuals. Sanders includes photos from much of the Muslim world, including West Africa, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Turkey.

About the Author
Peter Sanders is an internationally known photographer. Born in London, he established himself in the 1960’s photographing most of the pop musicians of his day, including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and others. In 1971, he was granted the unique opportunity to document the Hajj (Pilgrimage) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. These images have appeared throughout Europe in recognition of their exceptional quality. Mr. Sanders has a special and natural empathy with the people he meets, which has opened doors for him. As a result, he has often been granted permission to take photos of people never before photographed. This book is his first, although hundreds of photos from his huge collection of photography have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines, books, and websites.
