Product Description

Introducing the easiest and most enjoyable way for parents to encourage their children to read! Recently selected among the Most Outstanding Children's Books of 1998 by the Parent Council and one of the 100 Best Children's Products of 1998, We Both Read is the firs series of books to invite parents and children to share the reading of a book by taking turns reading aloud. Parents read the more sophisticated text on the left-hand pages and the children read the right-hand pages, which have been written at one of three early reading levels. Developed with reading education specialists, this delightful new series brings parents and children together for a wonderful new reading experience and faster reading development!

About this Book: Explore the mystery and wonder of the tropical rain forest! Travel around the equator to Africa, Asia, and South America discovering the world's most fascinating plant and animal life. Trees that give us rubber and chocolate, lizards that change color, and a cat that can fish with its tail are just some of the amazing species that you'll find in the dense foliage of the rain forest. Captivating photographs, along with compelling text, make this book an exciting adventure and a great learning experience.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Gr. 1-2. This entry in the We Both Read series offers glimpses of tropical rain forests in crisp, close-up images and side-by-side text for adult and child. Brief sentences and simple vocabulary introduce basic facts about the rain forest's climate, ecosystem, and animals on the right-hand page; on the left-hand page is additional information (there's no repetition) for more advanced readers. Young ones fascinated by the rain forest will find plenty of riveting color photos to help propel them through the text (a head-on shot of a growling jaguar is particularly stunning), although a map or other visual indicating where tropical rain forests are located around the globe would have been useful. An excellent title for beginning readers to share with adults and older siblings. Gillian Engberg
