Editorial Reviews
Hara Publishing
With an ancestry as old as the country itself, from camping to magnificent mansion, log homes may be the quintessential American dwelling. And despite their enduring appearance, their exteriors require regular TLC, just like a stick house. But with log homes, its never been quite as simple as applying a few gallons of paint.
The book includes worksheets for determining the needs of each owners project, a quick reference checklist for assessing problems, and a list of sources of materials and additional information. Each discussion is amply accompanied by illustrative photographs and the aesthetic quality of the book is enhanced by periodic drawings of several styles of log homes. Renfroe obviously has a deep affection for these structures, which colors his writing without diminishing its utility. THE LOG HOME OWNERS MANUAL appeals for aesthetic and utilitarian reasons, and should be a popular addition to any expository collection.
