Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Gr. 5-7. When the Cadwalladers win $40 million in the national lottery, they transform their formerly quiet Australian neighborhood with loud, late-night parties and a garish home makeover. Things become so nouveau riche that the father of the Judge family decides that it's time to move. Young Toby Judge is against leaving, so he teams up with his genius sister, Emma, to drive the Cadwalladers away. Emma develops a method of inserting computer chips into cockroaches and other insects in order to make them follow directions. Soon Toby and Emma command an army of cockroaches, sending them, with increasing success, into a series of Cadwallader parties. Expected havoc ensues. Young readers looking for a lighthearted story will find that this revolves around only one comic situation. Still, some kids will like the idea of swarming, disgusting insects taking over a disagreeable family, so this bit of froth should find an audience. Todd Morning
