Product Description

Flan Flood is determined to be more than just Patch Flood's little sister when she begins her freshman year at Stuyvesant High, a huge public school downtown.  When she meets a new group of friends that could help her become a new person, Flan has to convince them that she's just an ordinary girl, like they are.  This becomes nearly impossible when her very not normal friends Liesel, Philippa, and Sara-Beth Benny move in! Can Flan keep the Inside Girls hidden, find a new high school boy to date, and get her new friends to accept her? Featuring Flan Flood, long a favorite character of the original Insider novels, Inside Girl offers a fresh, young, and girl-centric perspective that is perfect for early teen readers.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Minter focuses on a minor character drawn from her Insiders series in this spin-off. Flan Flood has decided to leave behind the world of rich socialites to attend public school, where she has a chance to live what might resemble a normal life. She befriends two other new freshmen, and delights in sleepovers and regular parties in people's homes (instead of hitting the hottest clubs). However, she is still trying to keep up with the former socialite life she used to lead, as her best friend, Sara-Beth Benny (think Mary-Kate Olsen), has decided to move in with her to escape the paparazzi. Eventually and predictably, the two worlds collide. There's slightly more substance here than in the Insiders series, but the primary draw will be celebrity gossip and peeks at the world of the ultra-rich. Perfect for a day at the beach, and not as sex-oriented as the Gossip Girl series, this is a true lite read that will draw teen girls who enjoy celebrity magazines. Carton, Debbie

Review

"I wish I'd known Flan Flood in high school--this is one girl you must get to know, now." --Lisi Harrison, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling series THE CLIQUE
"Every teen girl who loves mild romance, drama, and real life novels should read this fantastic, one-of-a-kind story, ASAP! . . . Inside Girl should definitely be a "must read" on every teenage girl's list."--13 year-old, Upper Strasburg, PA, on flamingnet.com

From Publisher's Weekly
[A] sweet-natured tale. …Fans of the Insiders series will likely welcome Flan's slightly more down-to-earth take on New York City life. --Publishers Weekly

From School Library Journal
Flan is actually a kind girl caught in a dilemma she manages to solve with sincerity. Tamer than most of its counterparts in the genre, and with some semblance of a moral compass, Inside Girl should be popular for a light summer read. --School Library Journal
