I can't believe I did this4
So I see this book at Borders while on vacation and think 'pretty interesting', flip through it and put it back on the shelf. A year later, and five years after law school, I'm reading it with a highlighter and studying like I was a 1L all over again. From reapportionment to the 2000 Election to campaign finance, detailed treatment of the law that defines how our republican system of government works with the theme of the tension between undemocratic institutions (the courts) and the political system, seemingly the two should not meet, throughout the book. It's a casebook for sure, dry and boring and not very helpful at times, and my fear is I put down $80 (with supplement) for something that in 6 months may not be the end all and be all of election law (well, it already is: the supplement discusses BCRA and the District Court's holdings but not the recent Supreme Court decisions on BCRA).

A tour de force5
This is a tour de force on one of the most important yet most neglected areas of the law. I took a course from this book, and it was one of the best experiences I had in law school.
