Enjoyable4
I found the quilts very inspiring but the directions difficult to follow. Once I finally figured out the strips and the circle involved, it was fairly easy. I'm a novice quilter and really need to rely on the design wall and explicit instructoins. I'm excited about the final product. It is fun to quilt as you sew the project together -- then you can add additional stitching to enhance the design. Worth the price.

Bargello Quilts tough to understand but great pictures!4
This book shows a number of beautiful quilts that are creative and relatively easy to do once you figure out the instructions. The definitions section is the only reason I could finally understand how to set up the color-run strips and cut them. The design chart info is straight forward but not easily translatable to patterns until Ms. Edie's photographs seen. Her photographs of the quilts are the most useful component of this book for explaining the instructions. The quilts are the most unusual and elegant pieces of textile art I have seen in a long time! A terrific book for ideas once you get through the instructions. I am looking forward to her second volume which is out but I haven't seen yet.
