Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Although her earlier book, Jane Packer's New Flower Arranging, was a feast for the eyes, specific instructional material was kept to a minimum. Her new book is as practical as it is gorgeous, with beautifully photographed, step-by-step directions for every arrangement. Packer's floral designs reflect a refreshing, exuberant sensibility in combining texture, color, and container. Among the fresh and dried offerings are a bridal bouquet and informal hanging bunches of herbs and flowering plants. Included is a glossary describing specific traits of many flowers; professional tricks of the florist's trade are illustrated, helping ensure successful ventures even for the complete novice. An excellent guide for the person who has to cook the dinner, set the table, and worry about the flowers in double time.

Customer Reviews

less interesting than her "Fast flower arranging" book3
I guess the "fast flower arranging'" book is really more worth buying than this one. You will find the same great tips but the arrangements will be more appealing than the ones shown in The complete guide to flower arranging.

Practical and Inspiring5
It seems most floristry books are either helpful or pretty. Jane Packer has managed to combine both elements in Complete Guide To Flower Arranging, resulting in a practical reference book that doesn't just provide visual guides but includes practical tips and inspirational designs for new florists. An absolute must for those starting work with flowers and building a reference library.

Arrange like a florist--not necessarily a compliment!2
While this book is nicely photographed, well-organized and easy to follow, the focus is very controlled arrangements. Because I prefer the more natural, "just picked from my garden" look, this book did not appeal to me.
