Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 4-6AIdeas for creating toys, games, decorations, and more with boxes, paints, glue, and a few other supplies are presented through clear, numbered instructions and crisp full-color photographs. Each picture shows the finished product, likely more polished than a child's handiwork, but effective nonetheless. The lists of items needed include type of box (cereal, oatmeal, greeting-card, etc.) as well as suggestions for spin-offs. Some of the more unusual crafts include making bookends by putting sand or rocks in a sealed plastic bag inside boxes before decorating them and making a "vacation box" covered with an old map, perhaps to store mementos from a trip. Though tips for getting started include asking friends and relatives for help in collecting material, no mention is made of the need for adult assistance in cutting cardboard boxes or how best to cut boxes to create a neat edge. The lack of a table of contents is offset by a complete index by craft title and subject.AMaria B. Salvadore, District of Columbia Public Library
