From Booklist
Everybody hates doing drywall--that's why it's so expensive having it done for you. Staunch (penurious) do-it-yourselfers (and industrious types seeking a new career path) should consult Ferguson's generously illustrated, cheerfully detailed guide. It discloses the secrets of hanging drywall evenly without throwing your back out and the arcane rules of good taping and joint-compound techniques. It airs the strategy of "prebowing" drywall panels, concerns about the "grain orientation" of drywall sheets, and the perhaps more obvious issues of fastening with screws rather than with nails and vice versa. One grows to admire the depth of Ferguson's gypsum-board mastery, for the matters cited seem trifling only to those who have never personally attacked a drywall project. Those who have, or will, will appreciate the clear directions and insightful tips. From choice of trowel to methods of properly mixing powdered joint compounds, Ferguson has it covered. Happy hanging. Mike Tribby
