Product Description

An ideal guidebook for any photographer who wants to take close-up pictures in nature. The demands of close-up photography are multiplied once you leave the comfortable environs of the studio to practice your art in nature. Wind, rain, freezing temperatures, stark lighting, difficult terrain, weak batteries, and furtive uncooperative subjects can be added to the list of technical issues to be resolved. In this book Tim Fitzharris willingly shares the secrets that have enabled him to overcome these challenges and have made his photographs famous.

Close-up Photography in Nature deals with how to photograph plants and animals by existing light amidst the beauty of the natural environment. The text is aimed at those who understand basic photographic principles and who have experienced shooting nature subjects. Current techniques of close-up photography based on the use of modern auto-focus, auto-exposure, dedicated TTL-flash cameras are here. Also provided is introductory information on computer imaging, a technique which replaces conventional darkroom procedures and allows you to produce an unlimited variety of special effects.

Subjects covered include: recording maximum sharpness; attaining brilliant color; close-up focusing technique; using telephoto lens, using tilt-shift lenses; greater than life-size magnification; natural light; a camera system for close-ups; aperture/shutter speed compromises; and subjects in the wild.
