Featuring a companion practice CD-ROM and audio pronunciations on CD, this textbook is designed to help students begin reading, writing and speaking medical terms immediately, giving them the tools needed for clear, efficient communication in the health care environment. The book presents small segments of information and immediately tests comprehension using an approach that combines tables and narrative interspersed with exercises. Programmed Learning Sections in each chapter consist of several blocks, or 'frames' of material in which the reader is asked to recall and write information previously presented. The student interacts with the content on every page by filling in the programmed sections and checking the answers immediately before deciding whether to proceed or to review material presented earlier. Quick & Easy Medical Terminology is organized by body systems, and after the first five orientation chapters have been completed, the remaining chapters can be studied in any sequence. It is ideal for shorter (1- or 2-credit) courses in medical terminology and for self-study courses, in addition to traditional, lecture-format classes.

Excellent as a teacher and a resource
I used this text for an online course in medical terminology and was more than satisfied with the results. The author structured the book in such a way that it appeals to all learning styles--visual, auditory (using the audio CD or tape), and even movement (using the accompanying CD interactive exercises). Programmed learning is employed by the author and is a very effective way of teaching this "new language." I would recommend this book to anyone entering the allied health fields.
_Quick and Easy_ Does It
I once knew a fellow who told me that he spoke only eleven *modern* languages fluently. When he told me, I wished that I could touch his hand and what he knew would osmose to me.
Of course learning a new language is not that easy. And except for the fact that one does not have to learn a new grammar, learning a new terminology is the same. It takes *work*. What can make these learning processes easier is having a teacher who knows how to organize the material so that learning associations come more readily.
There's no osmosis. Peggy Leonard does an outstanding job of organizing the material so that one can most easliy learn medical terminology. _Quick and Easy_ does it.
