Splendidly written. The kind of writing that makes commercial genre what it is--

William Fox, archaeologist, Ucluelet, BC
I enjoyed it immensely!

From the Author
The lure of eco-tourism is all that's needed for developer, Clifford Radisson to propose building a theme park on top of a sacred Native burial. Steeped in the Raven myths of the Pacific Northwest, THE RAVEN'S POOL pits half-Haida archaeologist Jake Lalonde and grad student, Angeline Lisbon, against a psychotic businessman in this chilling tale of adventure and romance.

The Raven's Pool5
The Raven's Pool is a fast-paced, emotionally invigorating read recommended to anyone with an interest in archaeology or native lore. Author Deborah Cannon's fast-paced prose and engaging characters make this intellectual thriller an unforgettable read.

a gripping story5
This is an archaeological adventure story and a great thriller. It is also the story of a young woman, whose desire to pursue her career as an archaeologist, and escape the control of her father, places her in the middle of a jealous rivalry between an idealistic archaeology professor and a billionaire developer. She becomes their prize, and has to struggle to gain control of her own life while engaged in a conflict more powerful than she can imagine.

This book is a fun ride. It is filled with vivid and engaging characters and situations, and builds to a heart-pounding climax. An exciting book for everyone, but even more engrossing for anyone with an interest in the world of archaeology.

Archaeological Thriller! Read this Book!5
A refreshing change from the usual thriller fare. For a start, it takes place on the west coast in the San Juan Islands, north of Seattle. The setting and characters really come to life-- almost like watching a movie. Steeped in Native lore, the myth of the Raven is presented as a prehistoric shaman who was transformed into legend as a mischievous and clever black bird. This idea is integrated into a modern tale of power, love and revenge. The characters, Jake Lalonde, an archaeologist, and a grad student, Angeline Lisbon, are persecuted by a powerful New York developer, Clifford Radisson. It's as much a love triangle as it is a tale of archaeologists fighting the construction of a theme part on top of precious heritage land. The plot culminates with the discovery of the shaman's burial and Radisson's attempt to punish the two archaeologists for thwarting him. At a deeper level, it questions the idea of inherited memory. Can a wrong committed in the prehistoric past be avenged in the future? The thing that makes this book different is that it's not only fun, but it's interesting!
