How to look at drawings of star wars
Over the course of my life I have encountered many books which claim to help you learn to draw. Some better than others. The most common approach is to break the subject down into simple shapes and then, step by step, build upon that base until the final product has been achieved. "You Can Draw Star Wars" abandons this notion, to its detriment.
This book does indeed begin with a base for the final product, but there are little to no in-between stages. One is expected to make the leap from Stick Figure to fully rendered human form with facial features in a single step. This is not the way to teach someone to draw a specific thing. The aspiring artist would be better off tracing the desired image as that is the only way to achieve the results this book is supposed to provide.
In my personal collection I have a very old book on how to draw star wars characters, vehicles and droids. It was a much more instructive than this book. As an animator, I am used to using character sheets, which are, in essence, the steps of a how to draw book. "You Can Draw Star Wars" would not pass as a character pack in any animation studio.
If you are determined to buy this book, please seek it out at your local book store and peruse its pages before committing to your purchase. You will see that the title of this book makes claims the contents can't deliver upon.
