M-I-A1

Wow! Twenty-three NatLampCo magazine parodies in one handy book. I've always worked in publishing so I loved their brilliant satires on consumer titles and I thought to have all these in one book would be a 'must have'...and I bought a copy. I've regretted it ever since.

Sure you get twenty-three titles but missing-in-action are pages and pages that appeared in the originals. I did a quick check of some magazines in this book and the number of pages in the original Lampoon (in brackets) Pethouse 5 (8) Ivory 5 (8) Playdead 10 (14) Old Ladies Home Journal 4 (8) Negligent Mother 4 (6) American Bride 7 (10) National Inspirer 6 (8) and I think it is safe to assume that most of the contents are minus something. As well as missing pages some of the originals have been re-arranged and the color looks like it has been scanned from the Lampoon pages rather than the original plates.

Pretty much a disaster but they did have the good grace to include the complete fifteen pages of the the stunning Mad parody. I only think this is worth buying if you want to get a flavor of the Lampoon when it was it its greatest (some of the book's contents are not from this period) otherwise its emasculated pages don't do anyone a favor.
