What a great reference tool! I am constantly referring to my copy of Make Money Self-Publishing, and I find something...
From the Author
When I first decided to try self-publishing, I read (and loved!) many fine how-to-get-in-print books and how-to-market titles. But once I had my own book in hand (and in my closet, and stacked in boxes on top of a shipping table, and stored in a warehouse in Michigan), I wanted role models. Not famous self-publishers who broke dramatically into fame and fortune, but run-of-the-mill people like me who were actually supporting themselves publishing and selling books. What were their personal formulas for success? What had worked best, or not at all? I couldn't find this book, so I created it. Interviewing these generous people taught me an enormous amount about publishing. I hope that reading their stories will help you succeed with your books.
About the Author
Suzanne P. Thomas is the self-publisher of Rental Houses for the Successful Small Investor as well as Make Money Self-Publishing. Although at the time she wrote Make Money Self-Publishing she didn't qualify to be one of the profiled publishers (her arbitrary requirement for publishers was to net at least $20,000 per year after expenses from their publishing or else to sell the rights to their self-published books for amounts in the high five figures or better), she is doing much better now (she'd easily qualify for her own book). She plans to include her personal experiences in her next self-publishing book. She intends to release a Colorado romance in the beginning of 2002, to be followed by another real estate book. After all, fiction is fun, but the non-fiction usually (but not always) pays the bills better.
