Editorial Reviews

From the Author
Sherri Koehnen Goehring has been a licensed child care provider and a parent for 10 years, involved in Early Childhood organizations, and found herself to be a resource of information for child development and parenting ideas. Because of this, Sherri was inspired to write stories for both child care and family use. In her easy-to- read toddler, preschool and early school age books, you will find child development skills, parenting ideas, family values, important safety tips and prevention ideas. Specific topics include manners, sharing, clean up ideas, finger plays, songs, recipes, projects, etc. Sherri is releasing her, "Luv-n-Hugs Series" this upcoming year. Luv-n-Hugs books are unique to other children's books in that, Sherri gives copyright permission to photo copy fun projects and finger plays or children may personalize these pages! Additionally, her books do not offer animal characters, instead the same children in each book that are close to your child's age to relate to. Specific child development areas include: large and small motor skills, science/math/food/recipes activities, songs and finger plays, and language development which are told as a story in a child care setting for the reader to use and expand on if desired. You will find that your child will follow along and participate with the activities in each story and the books in the Luv-n-Hugs series will be among your child's favorite personalized collections. My educational series are in a child care setting, but the emphasis of my stories are on the activities, the teaching concepts and the kids. Currently my series are being used by bookstores, libraries, child care centers, child care homes, teachers and parents which I am enclosing their Reviews/Comments/Testimonials for your review - If desired, please feel free to contact each! Head Librarian - Montgomery/Lonsdale Public Library - Vicky W. Lee - Montgomery, MN I strongly believe that the valuable concepts presented in Sherri's child development books should be in all libraries. Sherri's books are never in the library--they are always checked out. The books prove to be very durable, well read, and used by the parents and children. Libraries can take advantage of the low cost of Sherri's self publishing. A new Minnesota author is exciting addition to libraries. Personally, my preschool grandchildren enjoyed Sherri's "Fire Drill Practice" and "A Day". The feedback results were excellent on both concepts. Her "Fire Drill Practice" book inspired discussion on fire safety, rehearsing safety plans and new ideas. My grandchildren stay at home with their mother. "A Day" gave them a glimpse into day care activities and projects they can do at home. Thank you for sharing so personally with so many children.

Child Care Center - Early Childhood Specialist/Teacher - Deanna Hofmeister - Mankato, MN As a preschool center based teacher, I find Sherri's books very helpful and interactive. Both books present the issues of "A Fire Drill" and "Child Care" in a very non-threatening way, that is easily understood by children. The books were very educational and entertaining and we enjoyed reading them in our preschool classes.

Fire Captain - Minneapolis Fire Department - Engine 14, Ladder 10 - Pat Swaggert - Minneapolis, MN All children should learn fire prevention, safety and escape - E.D.I.T.H. (exit drills in the home) not only in October, but also on a continuous basis. When a fire is detected a person has less than 3 minutes to evacuate a burning building to survive. Hence fire prevention awareness and fire drill practices are essential to survival in a fire situation; therefore, I highly recommend Sherri's Fire Drill Practice book, told in a story form, to schools, libraries, child care centers and homes, and parents to educate all ages of children on fire safety and survival.

Police Officer - Lakeville Police Department - Jim Puncochar - Lakeville, MN I really enjoyed reading "The Children Learn About Stranger & Safety" book. I think it is excellent that her books are not only interesting, but also very informative for parents, schools, day cares, libraries etc. Seeing so many cases of violence against children, it is important that we inform children and try to prevent some of these situations. I like that she point out that strangers are anyone you don't know, sometimes children think a stranger is someone who dresses all in black. Hopefully this book will be read to many children!

1st Grade Teacher- Nancy Gomes Elementary School - Laurie Holtz - Reno, NV It was with pleasure that I was able to review Sherri Goehring's book entitled "A Day" from the Luv-n-Hugs series. This book would enable a young child to have realistic insight into an actual day at day care or a day care center. I was pleased to see the book included activities, songs, and story time which is so important for the developing young reader. As a first grade teacher, I felt the social skills she stressed would be invaluable as a child enters a regular school setting. Mrs. Goehring's book will no doubt be seen in the hands of many children.

Montgomery/Lonsdale Early Childhood Family Education Coordinator/Learning Readiness Coordinator - Barb Jackson - Montgomery, MN I have previewed "A Day" and "Fire Drill Practice" at Luv-n-Hugs Day Care. I found the books to be good "matter-of-fact" presentations of information and ideas quite suitable for young children. The illustrations are fun and creative which enhance the storylines. The topics seem to be quite pertinent and appropriate for young children. I have worked in a limited capacity with Sherri on these projects. I know how hard she worked to maintain professionalism both in story character and in the research needed to document and make the songs and finger plays "user-friendly" and reproducible. Best of luck to Sherri with this exciting venture!

Licensed Day Care Provider - Elizabeth Zaderaka - Lonsdale, MN As a day care provider, I believe Sherri's books are invaluable. Children of all ages enjoy them. I especially like to use them with new children entering my day care. The books give both parents and children an idea of what to expect so it is not a frightening experience. The books are entertaining and informative. Best of all, the children love them! They are full of practical ideas for new or established day cares. I whole-heartedly recommend them.

Parent - Mark Boegeman - Prior Lake, MN I have known Sherri for about 20 years. She has always been sort of a leader-teacher-entertainer! She is also a very strong family member, children are the center of her home. Sherri has worked 10 years teaching children everything they need to know. She has commendably reflected this teaching experience in her children's books for all parents to use. The fire safety rules, prevention tips, and STOP, DROP, AND ROLL, with excellent illustrations, in Sherri's "Fire Drill Practice" book are great reminder's for parents to keep teaching and reinforcing fire safety to our children! Her books additionally provide ideas and projects to do using everyday household items eliminating more preschool expenses!
