Registered dietician, Evelyn Tribole, explains how to choose healthy, nutritious meals and snacks, even for people who are pressed for time. "Eating on the Run" is a survival guide for everyone who is too busy to cook and eat traditional meals. "Eating on the Run" gives readers the nutrition information they need to make healthy eating choices and beat the clock. The current edition includes information on: what to avoid, the worst convenience foods, fatty frozen meals, healthy sounding fat traps, fattiest fast foods; the best bets in fast foods, frozen dinners and breakfasts, deli sandwiches, children's meals and ethnic food; 40 meals that take one minute or less to prepare; coping with power meals and happy hour worries; snacks for the briefcase, desk drawer and workplace fridge; snacks worth grazing on; nutritional data for more than 400 fast food items and 120 brand-name frozen "light" meals; and a whole week of menus that involve no cooking, complete with grocery list. Evelyn Tribole stresses that the most important thing is to make progress with a nutrition programme. No one has to scrutinise every bite they eat; just keep overall eating habits on a healthy track. She emphasizes that healthy snacking, or "grazing", is an essential part of a good nutrition plan. Her practical style lets readers adopt healthy eating habits that fit their lifestyles. "Eating on the Run" should help anyone develop healthy, practical eating habits that fit their hectic lifestyles.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
Tribole, a registered nutritionist, gears this book to the young professional who has little time to cook nutritious, healthy meals. She believes in making the most of adversity and comes up with inspired suggestions for snacking. Her theory is that a snack every two hours during the day will fulfill daily requirements for vitamins and nutrients from the four basic food groups. The snacks can be as simple as orange juice and a bagel or as interesting as curried chicken celery on pita. Tribole also discusses the pluses and minuses of fast food, advises on weight loss for people on the go, talks about disease prevention and offers hints on nutrition for athletes.
