Upon their return to England, the Company re-formed as a single regiment, the Holland Regiment, which later became known as 'The Buffs'. In the years that followed, this highly esteemed regiment served in conflicts ranging from the Peninsular War to World Wars I and II. About the Author
Gregory Blaxland held a regular commission in the Buffs for fifteen years, until retiring in 1954. In addition to this book, he also wrote Buffs: Royal East Kent Regiment (Leo Cooper, 1972) and Regiments Depart: The British Army 1945-1970 (Kimber, 1971).
