Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal
Fourteen photographers, each well known in a subject specialty, have contributed sections from previously published works to form this compilation. The result is all a photo handbook should be. Cut-away views of camera mechanisms, equipment lists, exposure charts, and so on make the technical instruction clear and easy to follow. Chapters on framing, depth of field manipulation, and use of light address aesthetic issues. While some self-defeating manuals use lackluster illustrations, page after page here explodes with brilliant imagery that will inspire photographers at all levels of skill. Although the text provides solid instruction in black-and-white processing, color photography is the dominant concern here. Very highly recommended, especially for public libraries as well as academic libraries supporting basic photography courses.
