Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 3-4-Overviews of the superhero's story and the development of his extraordinary powers. Both books are written in a fictional narrative that summarizes the original comic books. Buckley's book covers the hero's web-shooting and wall-crawling abilities, and his strength and agility. Teitelbaum discusses Spider-Man's evolution from teenaged Peter Parker and some of his enemies. Numerous sidebars provide additional information, often about plot and character, as well as definitions. Most are illustrated. In addition, colorful reproductions of original comic strips, photographs, and drawings are found throughout. Not much mention is made of Spider-Man's original author or illustrator. However, fans may still be intrigued by these titles that highlight the superhero's creation, life, loves, and special abilities.
