Product Description

Trevor Rees-Jones was a young man who liked his job. He served on the security team of Mohamed Al Fayed. As bodyguard for Fayad's son, Dodi, Rees-Jones was with him and his companion, Princess Diana, for their summer romance - a romance played out to the tune of the paparazzi; and in the fatal car crash which tragically killed them both. Despite horrific injury and traumatic surgery, Trevor survived - only to have to fight on as his boss's grief at the loss of his son turned into a desperate hunt for culprit and conspiracy. By the end of this profoundly gripping and moving story Trevor moves on, emerging from the centre of the storm, his honour and dignity intact.

Customer Reviews

He doesn't remember. The end.1
Trevor Rees-Jones was one of Dodi Al Fayed's bodyguards and was in the car with Dodi and Princess Diana on the night of the fatal crash. He had met Diana only fleetingly a few weeks before and really had no interaction with her. He was severely injured that night and has no memory of the crash or the minutes leading up to it. So what is this book about? It describes in excruciatingly minute detail the legal investigations and his recovery for two years after that fateful night.

I was hoping for more about Diana but there's really nothing of interest here, just a few photos of her with him, blurry, and way in the background. Rees-Jones comes off as an ordinary bloke who just happened to live through a world-famous event. I found the book to be dull and hard to finish. It is ghost-written in the third person, based on interviews with Rees-Jones, his family, and his legal team, in a rather bland, factual manner. Not much of a story, really, if you're looking for details about that night or insights about Dodi and Diana.
