A Must For The Hobbyist5
I have been working with this book for a few months now, and slowly getting my own lab together. This book is excellent, with real experiments using real chemicals. Most books of chemistry experiments today have been so thoroughly sanitized that they are useless. This book has real experiments. If you want to get started in chemistry, or if you have a child in your life that you want to get interested in it, this book is a must have. It is a little light on theory, so I would add a chemistry textbook to the mix.

I firmly believe this book is destined to become a classic.

Not what we were looking for.3
I studied chem in high school and university but what I was looking for was a book for my daughter (~10) that could help her along with my assistance explore the world of chemistry through simple experiments that could be done with household items. If this is what you are looking for, this is NOT your book. This reads much more like an introductory high school level chemistry lab book. It is very well laid out with rich information/education based on non-trivial set of equipment and chemicals to acquire in order to complete the various experiments.
