From Booklist
Gr. 6-12. In this capably written, balanced presentation, Fridell uses information about weather patterns during the past century to anticipate the weather of the future and to extrapolate what will happen if we act now to ensure that predictions about global warming don't become reality. Each chapter contains myriad statistics and data that young researchers will find helpful for reports as well as numerous black-and-white photographs of animal and plant life and illustrations demonstrating some of the weather patterns described. Shaded boxes on topics such as greenhouse gases are used to clarify some complex ideas. Unfortunately, the layout may put off some readers; although the text is double-spaced, the pages appear cramped as margins are too narrow. Notes, a glossary, and a bibliography are appended.
