Ingram
Carolus Clusius was born in France around 1525. He superintended the imperial gardens of Emperor Maximilian II in Vienna from 1573-1587 and introduced many new plants to Europe. Today he is known as the father of descriptive botany. This book contains 419 illustrations from Clusius's chief work, the RARIORUM PLANTARUM HISTORIA (1601), one of the outstanding collections of plant illustrations from the Renaissance.
