Editorial Reviews
From the Author
Today, our cats and dogs are considered family members and just as deserving of the best medical care available. Cutting-edge medicine IS available for your puppy or kitten, adult dog or cat, or geriatric pet--and loving them means providing for their wellness the best way we can. After all, that's what we do for our friends. *smile*
Your veterinarian is key to keeping your dog or cat healthy. But just as human cardiologists and surgeons offer specialized care, more than 20 veterinary specialties also offer help that goes beyond the basics. My goal has always been to empower you to make informed choices about your pet's physical and emotional needs. I believe it is vital that all pet lovers become aware of what treatments are available, and where to find them, by asking their veterinarian. Now, you can read this book for that information. My fondest wish is that "PET CARE IN THE NEW CENTURY" will help you learn about various options to help you make the best choices for your individual animal's circumstance. Then it's up to you to say "yes" or "no thanks" to a kidney transplant, paralysis cure, behavior help, or cancer treatments, for example--remembering always that there is no right or wrong answer.
When you make a decision from the heart that is based on the best information available to you at the time, it cannot be wrong.
Best wishes,
Amy D. Shojai

Incredible!
Pet Care in the New Century is the most incredible book I own on pet care. I really love it. When Frisky got sick I was able to understand the issue with the bladder stones and to have really good discussions with my vet. He knows I do my research and your book made it much easier to talk with him about what was happening to Frisky. Sincerely, Nancy and Frisky
Outstanding Reference!
I gave a copy to a vet tech friend, and Karen read this book cover-to-cover, exclaimed about readability, and let me know they now use her copy as a reference at West Ashley Veterinary Clinic in Charleston, S.C. She's also using it as a training resource for new vet techs. The day she brought it in there was an emergency intestinal surgery a new hire knew nothing about. She told her to look it up in your book and bingo! the tome got pressed into duty and now sits at the receptionist's elbow. I hope many people notice it there and demand their own copy. Mary Glickman
Helping Pets Live Longer, Healthier Lives
"...Amy Shojai makes increasingly complicated pet care more readily understood in Pet Care in the New Century. In addition to resource directories and heartwarming real-life examples, sections on ethics and recent technological advancements, Shojai offers an alphabetical reference guide of health and behavior conditions. Shojai's Pet Care in the New Century better prepares pet owners to care for their pets and enables cats and dogs to live longer, happier lives."
