great and quick fun

Is This A Joke?
I received this book in a box of donated material from our library, ie, books that they can't even rent out for free. Yes it's true, anyone can get published! I'll bet Erik Quisling feels pretty proud of himself, having aquired the status of Published Author, with his story about a Loser Clam right up there with other gems of literature. I still don't know if it's some sick, eight dollar and ninety-nine cent joke played on us by Warner Books, or if there are chunky New Agers in Birkenstocks discussing this book; "Aren't we all really clams, in search of something more, but keeping sealed up?" Need I go into the illustrations, which consist of a kindergarten-style drawing of a clam on each page. The Font Style is something like "Hand Scrawl MS". If you want a laugh, grab some cocktail sauce and dip in. Meanwhile, someone tell Erik to clam up.

This is a brilliant little gem of a book. Sublimely simple, hilariously clever, every one of the sparse words is perfectly placed. The crude drawings are funny & apt. Together, this teeny story of bivalve enlightenment will make you laugh out loud.
