Product Description

Sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and always brutally honest, this is Rosie O'Donnell's surprising account of the pain, regret, and euphoria involved in withdrawing from celebrity life--and the terrifying dangers of relapsing into the spotlight.

CELEBRITY DETOX is Rosie's story of the years after she walked away from her top-rated TV show in 2002, and her reasons for going back on the air in 2006. In it, she takes you inside the world of talk show TV, speaking candidly about the conflicts and challenges she faced as cohost on ABC's The View. Along the way Rosie shows us how fame becomes addiction and explores whether or not it's possible for an addict to safely, and sanely, return to the spotlight.

Chronicling the ups and downs of "the fame game," Rosie O'Donnell illuminates not only what it's like to be a celebrity, but also what it's like to be a mother, a daughter, a leader, a friend, a sister, a wife...in short, a human being.

Customer Reviews

Celebrity Detox5
I have just loved Rosie since she started her talk show many moons ago. I find that her honesty is so admirable in this world of people who want to appear perfect. Her book touched my heart. I can now see how the loss of a mother and the absence of a loving father can hurt a child for the rest of their life. The part of the book that touched me the most was when Rosie was hurt and had no one to turn to at home and had to find a neighbour to help her. I felt her pain. The things I admire the most about her are her intelligence, her compassion for other people, and her abiity to make people laugh so easily. I think that all of these qualities plus her tremendous courage are what make her the amazing person that she is. Hats off to Rosie.

a real book from a real person5
I am not typically a star stuck person and NEVER read blogs or books written by stars etc but when I heard about Rosie's BLOG and through there her new book I found myself inexplicably drawn to her realness. I always image stars as being different than the masses but Rosie, through her BLOG and books, has shown me that she is just another person - she laughs, she cries, she hurts, she has true feelings. The book is a window into her world and makes her even more relatable than ever before. She is charitable, loving, lonely, family driven, SUN lover and Forget all of the lies you have heard about her in the tabloids or trash magazine shows (or from the "dump truck") and read it with an open mind.

This was boring and i can't believe I spent my money on it.1
This book was the most boring book ever, I can't believe it ....she talked about a small fight she had with Barbara and she didn't fit in.
and how in love she is with Barbara Streisand saying this over and over and over again. God it was the worst.
However I did read more than words, and my god, i was so touched by it and I cried over and over again,Ihad to put the book down, because it was so heart breaking, and so real. This is a book you will never forget.
