About the Author
Nicholas Sidjakov (born December 16, 1924 in Riga, Latvia) is a Latvian-American illustrator of children's books. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and moved to the United States in 1954. His first book was published in 1957, and in 1961, he won the Caldecott Medal for Baboushka and the Three Kings. He lives with his wife and son in Sausalito, California.
Ruth Robbins is an art director and illustrator. She lives with her husband and son in Berkley, California.
