Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
Inspecting a house for possible purchase can be a daunting experience, especially for the uninitiated who wouldn't know a joist from a J-trap. Enter this modest volume. Surveying the parts and systems of a house (e.g., foundation, plumbing, kitchen, yard) it provides a short physical and functional description of each, an index of ills grouped by expense, and a list of "walk-away factors." A reproducible checklist provides a useful form on which to record observations during an on-site inspection. While no substitute for a professional house inspector, this nevertheless deserves a place in most public library how-to or consumer information collections as a commonsensical and low-cost basic-training manual for the neophyte househunter.
