She knows in her heart that she owes Riley an explanation, but she isn't ready to face him- or herself. But Riley is a man who knows what he wants, and usually gets it. And tonight, he isn't leaving without a few answers.

From AudioFile
This may look like a new novel, but it was first published in 1985. A reference to a (then) spectacular salary and an obsolete car model are the only glaring instances of datedness. This romance tells the story of the passion, marriage, and breakup of Jon Riley, a popular morning TV show host in San Francisco, and Brin Cassidy, his producer and wife. Throughout the back and forth of present and past, there is the usual romance device of the secret that will only be revealed at the end. Alison Fraser's narration is sensitive and evocative, although the sweetness of her voice is almost too much at times. Given that, she handles Jon's voice surprisingly well, and she wrings all the emotion out of the story. M.A.M. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
