I promise you'll enjoy it5
This is really a book for everyone. Obviously, if you're suffering from some form of mental illness, you'll want to read this book and you'll be able to relate to parts of it. But if you're not, you'll also enjoy it as a look at how the "other half" lives. This is a harrowing yet touching account of a teenager's foray into the land of mental illness. Would also recommend another book (disturbing yet at times funny) called THE BARK OF THE DOGWOOD--the main character suffers from multiple personality disorder and post traumatic stress syndrome.

a closer look at schitsophrenia5
I read this book in high school, and I recently read it again. It took on a whole new depth once I read it again later in life. This book looks into a teenage girls struggle over 3 years in a mental institution. She works with a gifted psychologist to try and find her sanity. I found this book very intresting and touching. You really feel like you are in her head, and understand why she does the things she does and live through her struggles. Though it doesn't seem to be as well known as Sylvia Plaths "the bell jar" I found it to be just as good and better in some ways. I found it to be a much deeper and almost more disturbing look at someones struggle. I would recomend reading it.
